Dan Lewis presented a great session on how to debug and resolve SharePoint errors for the Triangle SharePoint User Group’s August meeting. I’ve been using SharePoint for over 7 years now and still managed to learn some nice tips and tricks. I link to the presentation once it is available.
One of the topics he mentioned really hit home with me. He told the story about when he first got into consulting (development) his first manager made him maintain the servers and network for the first six months in order to get a handle on the environment and the potential issues. I’ve never really heard of anyone doing this, but how better to learn the environmental issues? This is 10x more critical with SharePoint since there are so many interconnected pieces.
Great idea for anyone bringing a new team member into the career path, or to orient them with SharePoint work.
